Favorite Childhood Books

Early Hope Baby Reader

A couple of weeks ago, Hope Cottage asked its Facebook Fans to share with us their favorite children's books.  Here is what they had to say:

Jennifer:   Oh where do I begin! I have so many favorite books. I bought a TON of books before we ever even had our sweetie home. We read everday. She doesn't have a favorite yet...but I'm sure she'll have many. I love anything by Eric Carle, Love You Forever by Robert Munsch, all of the Little Miss Spider books, The Tale of the Three Trees. I could go on and on, but I'll stop!

Jessica I:  Mine was "I'll love you forever". But I bought one the other day called "why was I adopted" by Carole Livingston that made me wish I had read it when I was little :)

Jessica S. ‎"Guess How Much I Love You".....beautiful and touching or "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein

Robert T.:  "Winnie the Pooh" as a child. This past weekend I found my Winnie the Pooh story calendar 1974 which brought back a lot of those Pooh memories. My newest discovery and find is a book called "Zen Shorts". Too many wonderful children's books, too little time!

Hope Cottage Staff Feature

Christine Wright

Each month on the Hope Cottage blog, we will feature a Staff Member so you can get to know us better.

One of the first voices you hear when you call Hope Cottage belongs to the newest member of your adoption team, Christine Wright.  A recent transplant from Chicago, Christine provides administrative support to the clinical staff (our social workers), making her a very valuable member of the team.   She doesn't have a favorite food, but finds sweets a hard to resist temptation.   In her free time she likes to read and spend time with her two children.   Christine holds a BS in Psychology and has two years experience in adoption and 10 years experience in social services.  She has this to say about her job:  "I loved my first experience working in adoption while I lived in Illinois.  The joy was seeing the expressons on parents' faces when they were blessed with a new addition to their family and being a part of the process.  I came to Hope Cottage in hopes of working in adoption again.  Hope Cottage has offered me a greater learning opportunity to have a more in depth look into the process, from intake to finalization."

Big Hats Rule

Hope Cottage put out a call for pictures of babies in the biggest hats, beating the heat and shielding themselves from the rays of the hot Texas sun. Here is one of the winning photos - baby Chloe in her swim hat. Isn't she a cutie?
For July, we are looking for the Most Patriotic Baby. Post a picture of your little patriot on the Hope Cottage Facebook page by July 10th. Most patriotic baby wins a prize!
